We Have Extended Family Pool Hours M-F for Spring Break Week (open to ALL AGES from 11 AM to 8 PM)

The Newsletter for Park Pool: First Week of April!

OPP is busy!  You've been getting bombarded by updates and announcements about swim team, yoga, pool hours, lap swimming, and updates to the pool.  That's a lot to digest!  To help you sort things out--and provide a few extra updates--please read this week's newsletter in full.  You wouldn't want to miss out.

Special Open Swim Hours for This Upcoming Week

With many families out of school for spring break, the pool has worked it out with the lifeguards to ensure that families can head off to OPP a little earlier next week.  For just one week, in addition to having our normal lap swimming from 6 to 8 AM and 11 to 1 PM for those 12 and up, members of all ages can enjoy the pool starting at 11 AM until close (Mon-Fri).  Please be sure to be mindful of lap swimmers if you do come early.

ATMA Is Back

Starting this Saturday (weather permitting), ATMA Yoga classes will be held from 9:00-10:00 AM on most Weekends.  Please review the OPP calendar for up-to-date days that classes will be offered.  Holidays, weather, and swim meets impact availability.  For example, Saturday might be cancelled because of the rain, and there is no yoga this Sunday because of Easter.

Drop in for Yoga is $12 and should be paid on site.  You also have the option to purchase unlimited sessions for the year for $250--with this option including additional unlimited access to Atma's studio for June/July.

Let's Discuss Lap Swimming

Many of you have probably started, or been interested in, swimming laps since the pool has reopened.  Some of you have probably gotten right back into the swing of things, but we also know that several others have run into confusion over lanes and reservations.  We're here to try to help clear up that confusion today.  So let's cover the basics:

1. Lap reservations can be made through the signupgenius link here. Reservations are for 1-hour slots.

2. Lanes 2-6 are usually able to be reserved throughout the open pool hours of the day.  BUT, they are not available when the swim team is practicing, or if there is a swim team/pool event.

3. Only those age 16+ can swim in these lap lanes during adult only swim hours.

4. Lane 6 is also usually open to be reserved online during swim team practices. However, you cannot reserve lane 6 during swim events like meets or parties.

5. Each of the lanes has TWO open slots that can be reserved at a given time, with swimmers encouraged to discuss with their partner how they would like to approach lap turns if two people do end up reserving slots for the lane.

6. When the swim team is NOT practicing, lanes 0 and 1 are open for drop-in lap swimming.  These lanes are always first come, first serve during their available hours.

7. Members can only book TWO reservations per household at a time.  Once their reserved slots have been used, they will have the ability to make 2 reservations again.  Lanes can be reserved up to 5 days in advance.

8. There is NO DIVING IN THE SHALLOW END of the pool.  There is also NO DIVING OFF OF THE BLOCKS.

Gear Up Stingrays!

Who is looking for new swim gear?  Want to be fashionable in that Speedo or parka?  Check out the selection of brand new OPP gear available this year through Elsmore's website, with designs and embroidery made specifically for OPP.  This company is not sending the pool any proceeds, so please only feel compelled to purchase these items if you're interested--but let's be honest, this gear looks good and it's fun to show off our Stingray pride!

Getting to Know Your Park Coaches and Board

In this week's newsletter, we meet a person that we'll all like to get to know better--Chef Dave!  He brought you our wonderful opening day breakfast, and he has big plans to help keep us fed throughout the summer.

As a Bay Area native, lifer in the East Bay, culinary entrepreneur, and social butterfly, you've likely already had a chance to meet Chef Dave at some point.  If you haven't, now's your chance to meet the man behind the meals this year.
