What's Better Than Enjoying the Pool?

Enjoying It With Friends!!!

We all want to show off our pool.  We all want to hang with our friends.  How can we do both?  We have a guest policy that you should all know about!   Here's the verbiage for those of you interested in hanging with your non-member friends at the pool this year...

-----

Guests must ALWAYS be accompanied by a member in good standing, over the age of 16. Having a guest means being a host, and unaccompanied guests are not permitted to enter or use the pool.

Guests are expected to follow all pool rules. Please familiarize your quests with our rules for everyones safety.

Members should not open the gate for non-members unless you are their host. It's the host's job to let guests in.

Each OPP membership includes 10 free "guest" passes per year. The 10 guest passes apply to each membership (i.e. your household), not to each family member.

If you exceed your household allotment of free passes, the fee for guests is $5/person.

ALL guests must be signed in and must also sign a liability waiver, whether paid or free.

There are 2 binders on the table at the gate that need to be signed. One binder is for the liability release and the other binder should be marked for each guest. Once the 10 free guest limit has been reached  a check or cash should be put in an envelope and then placed in the white box next to the binders. Each guest is $5.00. Make checks out to Orinda Park Pool.

Any group consisting of more than 10 non-members must be booked as a party.  For more information or to make a party request please click HERE (YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN TO ACCESS THE PARTY REQUEST PAGE).

While it is the job of the Club Manager and the lifeguards to enforce these rules, we need the OPP community's help, too. The limitations on guest usage exist to help preserve the quality of the OPP experience for all our members, so please abide by them.

Getting To Know Your OPP People!

After a one week hiatus, we're back to introduce you to another important person Emily Herrick.  Emily is the volunteer coordinator this year for the swim team--VERY important.  So, let's take a minute to get to know the woman, the legend, the myth.

Q: Where were you born?  Did you live there most of your childhood?  And if not, where did you primarily grow up?

A: I grew up in Los Gatos, near San Jose. I spent my whole childhood there.

Q: Did you participate in swim or any other sports when growing up?

A: I only did swimming in High School for one season when I was sick of running track. I did, however, lifeguard and teach swimming lessons throughout college.

Q: Who in your direct family is also a part of the OPP family?

A: My husband, Brian, and daughter, Goldie, are in the OPP family.

Q: Which Orinda school does your daughter attend?

A: Sleepy Hollow

Q: What is your primary career...when you're not dedicating a large portion of your time to being the volunteer coordinator at OPP?

A: I'm the Co Founder and CEO of a blockchain security tooling company. We are currently creating an additional set of companies to foster the adoption of our products through social media and personal data ownership.

Q: Could you explain what the volunteer coordinator position actually entails?

A: The volunteer coordinator is the person who makes sure all of the things that need to get done at OPP meets and social events are able to get done. The swim team families are also supporting the social environment at OPP. In short, when you have volunteer obligation credits as a family with swim team participants, the volunteer coordinator is the person creating the opportunities and making sure all obligations are completed. If a sub is required, that sub and credit management is also a component of the job.

Q: What are some fun hobbies that you like to engage in while at the pool and/or at home?

A: I do a lot of cooking and baking, I used to own a chocolate company with my dad before he passed. I also do a lot of reading, gardening, crafts, hiking with my dogs, and the usual personal taxi service for Goldie.

Q: Anything additional you want to share with (or tell) your fellow OPP members that are reading this interview?

A: If you don't see Brian often, it's because he works Saturdays at his family's hardware store in Oakland!

If you have any questions or comments for us, please reach out to us at news@orindaparkpool.org.
